There was a great turnout for our Christmas Dinner and Parade!!!  Thanks everyone!  Check out pics in the Album '11 page.

Don't forget our Christmas Dinner will be on December, 3rd at 2pm at Colton's Steakhouse in Glasgow.  After the dinner we will march in the Glasgow Christmas Parade.  If your interested in reenacting come on out and meet us!

The October Max Event was at Camp Wildcat, near London, KY.  The unit portrayed the 13th Kentucky Infantry, Company D, USA for the weekend.  A very special part of the weekend was being joined by Dave Shuffet from the KET show, "Kentucky Life."  Dave doned a uniform and fell in with us for the day on Saturday.  It was all filmed for an episode to be aired in the spring of 2012 on KET television.  The unit also got the bounty for having the largest Union unit at the event.

The September Max Event was Munfordville, KY.  The battle took place on the original battlefield for the first time in years.  It made for an incredible event.  On Saturday, the unit had a reenactment of the 150th anniversary of the mustering in of the 6th Kentucky Infantry.  The crowd really enjoyed getting to see the men sign up and give their oath.

The August Max Event was at Richmond, KY.  There was a very good turnout and the guys did a great job over the weekend.  Captain Jefferies was appointed Infantry commander for the event.  The unit got a great camping spot and the weather was really nice.  The battles were some of the best of the season.

The July Max Event was at the National Event at Manassas, VA.  The guys had a great time getting to tour the battlefield and see the sights.  Even with the terrible heat, the guy really enjoyed their trip!

The June Max Event at Madison, IN was small but fun.  Other than a couple of storms and a light turnout the 6th put on a good show.  The small river town seemed to enjoy us being there as much as we enjoyed the event.  Thanks to everyone who made it out.

The May Max Event of Sacramento, KY saw our largest turnout yet.  The 6th Kentucky had the largest unit at the event!  Our unit stayed busy the entire weekend and everyone had fun.  The battles both days and were good and our boys did a great job.  Thanks to everyone in the group for coming out and making our unit what it is.

The April Max Event was Vernon, Indiana.  The weather wasn't the best the first half of the weekend, but the 6th KY had a great turn out.  (See the roster on the 6th Kentucky Infantry page to see the members who attended.)  Everyone had a great time and many new members were welcomed to the unit and earned their "warpaint".  With the better weather on Sunday the unit went on a march and had a great photo taken in the woods.  (Check out some photos on the Photo Album '11 page.)

There was a great article about the our company drill in the Bowling Green Daily News.  The 6th Kentucky was featured on the entire front page of the B section.  Check out the online version here.  http://www.bgdailynews.com/articles/2011/02/28/features/features1.txt

Our yearly meeting was on Feb 19, at the Gander Mountain store in Bowling Green, KY.  The turnout was great!  We discussed company business including making our schedule for the year.  (See Schedule Page.) Mike Case was elected to Corporal.  Congrats Mike!  Following the meeting we had a company drill at the Riverview House at Hobson Grove.  The weather was great for a drill and the men did a good job.  Thanks to Gander Mountain and Riverview.  Welcome to all our new members.  Greg Frye, Steven Furrow, Jim Osborne and Lucas Gow, (who actually joined late last season.)  Joining up at the meeting included:  Greg Renner, Michael Denkins, Triston Frye, Jimmy Walls, Derek Gastineau, Chris Lee, and Austin and Martin Byrnes.  Welcome to the 6th KY everyone!

On Dec 4 the group had a Christmas dinner at Colton's in Glasgow, KY.  Following the dinner, the 6th KY had a 2 mile march in the Glasgow Christmas Parade.  Even with the cold everyone had a great time.

The last three Max Events of the season were Richmond in Aug, Munfordville in Sept and Wildcat in Oct.  Richmond was hot as always, but the group at a very nice campground in the shade.  The battles turned out very good and the men got to take part in an impressive line of battle.  The Munfordville event was small this year, but as always a lot of fun.  We had our largest turnout of the season here.  The camp looked very impressive and everyone did a great job.  A few of our men even volunteered to switch sides to help even things.  Hopefully the word will get out that Munfordville is very reenactor friendly and the problems of the past are gone.  The Battle of Wildcat was a very fun event and battle.  The men camped and fought as the 13th KY Union.  Everyone agreed that the unit couldn't of had anymore fun as Confederate because of low Union numbers.

Brandenburg Report:
The Brandenburg event was probably one of the best this year.  Those of you who didn't make it you really missed out and were missed.
We had a pretty good turn out.  Members attending included:  Tim Brueggemann, Jeff and Cynthia Riffe, Trey Hales, Mike Case, Byran Taylor, Kenny and Matt Coots, Dickie O'dell, David, Shelby, and Ashley Mullins, Luke Cates, Micah Trent, Phyllis Smith, Sherie Sykes, and Anthony, and myself.
We had a great camp on right on the Ohio River.  There was a grood breeze most of the time which made it very nice under our big shade tree.  Our company street looked good.  I'm glad to see everyone helping with that.  I believe everyone likes the company street look.
The event was very nice and they treated us very well.  We got three meals this weekend.  The battles were about the same for both days, but they worked out pretty good.  The highlight was at the end of Saturday's battle when two Apache helicopters buzzed us.  There was also a street raid on Saturday morning
Welcome to our new members, Luke Cates and his mother Jenna.  Luke turned out to be quite the dancer at the ball on Saturday night.  I'm told the Mullins are quite the dancers as well, even if David didn't to dance as much.  Several members had fun at a karaoki bar on Saturday night and even your truly sang a couple tunes.  Sherie showed everyone who the real singer was that night as she put everyone else there to shame.
We all helped out our friends with 6th KY hospital at sick call.  It was a lot of fun.  Poor Kenny stole the show with his tooth ache.  Pay call and mail call were also a lot of fun.  There sure were a lot of smiles this weekend.  Our unit is a class act and you make your Captain proud.

The June Max Event was Madison, IN.  This took place at the Lanier House State Park.  It is a beautiful old mansion on the Ohio River.  The weather was hot, but the group had a good time.  Members attending included:  Shannon Jefferies, Tim Brueggemann, Juston Clark, Bryan Taylor, David Mullins, Mike Case, Dickie O'Dell, Doug Kwaizer, Jeff Gow, Anthony Manning, with two guests, Chris and Tyler Hollingsworth.  (See Photo Album "10 page.)  Check out a short video of the action on Sunday.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pQSk7MwVats

Welcome to our newest members!  Anthony Manning and Dickie O'Dell.  Welcome to the 6th KY!!!

On May 29, there was a memorial service at the Tracy Church in Barren County, KY.  Part of the service honored Marcellus Smith Matthews, who received the Confederate Medal of Honor.  He was given a new grave marker which told of his being a member or the 6th Kentucky Infantry.  Members attending included:  Bryan Taylor, Anthony Manning, Jeff Gow, Bob Sturgill, Mike Case, CJ Pedigo, and Shannon Jefferies.  (See Photo Album '10 page.)

What a weekend we had at Sacramento!  The May Max Event was the best Sacramento event yet.  The 6th KY was right in the middle of all the action.  We had the best turn out we have had yet.  Welcome to our newest member, David Mullins!

Welcome to our newest member, CJ Pedigo from Scottsville, KY.  Welcome!

The first Max Event of the year was at Vernon, IN on April 23-25.  The 6th KY had a good turn out and it was a fun event even with the bad weather.  Most of the day on Saturday was nice and we got in a good battle.  Our colors were on the field and the south won the day.  The rain and wind came in the evening and were off and on the rest of the weekend.  Sunday's battle was short but fun even with the rain and the North winning.  It was the first event for Jeff Gow.  (See him get his war paint on the Photo Album '10 page.)

The yearly meeting was held on February 27 at Gander Mountain in Bowling Green.  Following the meeting a company drill took place at the Riverview House at Hobson Grove also in Bowling Green.  Thanks so much to both of these places.  Thirty Two people attended the meeting.  The schedule was made for the upcoming season.  Dues were also set for the year.  They are to be paid by the first event of the year.  Tim Brueggemann was promoted to Corporal.  Welcome to our new members:  Jeff Gow; Jamie Null; Bob Sturgill; Jeff, Cynthia, Rachel, Austen, and Lauren Riffe.  Welcome!  The weather wasn't too bad for the company drill.  (See Photo Album '10 page.)  Everyone enjoyed the Riverview House.  Stop by for a tour of this historic home and tell them the 6th Kentucky sent ya!  Recruit everywhere and get the word out about our great unit.  Here's to a great season!

There was a article about the 6th Kentucky in the Feb issue of the SOKY Happenings magazine.  Thanks to them.  Captain Jefferies and Private Coots were guests on NBC and CBS 40 on Feb 22 talking about the unit and meeting.  Thanks to Channel 40 as well.

**IMPORTANT**  Our Yearly Meeting will be on February 27 at 9AM Central Time at the Gander Mountain store in Bowling Green, KY.  Company business will be dicussed and the schedule for the upcoming season will be made.  Following the meeting a company drill will take place at the Riverview House at Hobson Grove also in Bowling Green.  All members are asked to make every effort to attend.  Please come in uniform and bring your gear for the drill.  Anyone else who is interested in reenacting and joining the unit is welcome to attend.  If you have any questions contact the Captain.  See you there!

Our Christmas Dinner was held on Dec 5 at Colton's in Glasgow.  Everyone had a good dinner and a great time catching up with each other.  Afterward the unit marched in the Glasgow Christmas parade.  (See Photo Album 09 page.)  It was a lot of fun even with the freezing cold.  Members marching in the parade included:  Sherie Skyes, Phyllis Smith, Bob Sturgill, Doug Junkin, Doug Kwaizer, Mike Case, Bryan Taylor, Kenny Coots, Matt Coots, Juston Clark, Tim Brueggemann, and Shannon Jefferies.  Thanks to everyone who marched and all their family and friends who came to the dinner and stayed to watch the parade.  Merry Christmas!

The last Max Event was at Lost River Cave in Bowling Green, KY on Oct 16-18.  The over all numbers were low for the event, but we had a good turn out.  The battles were good and everyone seemed to have a good time.  We had an Enlistment scenario on Saturday morning.  The men signed up to join the army and were given the oath.  They were then given out their gear.  This turned out to be a fun scenario that I'm sure we'll do again.

On Oct 24 some members of the 6th KY attended the Orhpan Brigade Kinfolk Association Meeting in Cave City, KY.  The 6th had been asked to be the color guard for the meeting.  The meeting honored General Lewis who started the 6th Kentucky.  Everyone got to me members of his family.  After the meeting, the group went to the General's grave in Glasgow.  The 6th fired 3 volleys in salute after a wreath was placed on his grave.  After the meeting, our own Kenny Coots took several pics of the guys at Fort Williams.  You can check them out on our Facebook page.  (The link is on the Sutler and Links Page.)  Add us as a friend on Facebook while your there.

Munfordville Report:  The Max Event for September turned out very nice.  (See Photo Album 09 page.)  The weather was perfect and the town went all out.  We were camped behind the courthouse square and had lots of visitors to camp during the day.  Our camp was set up nice and camp inspections were very interesting.  During the day the unit got hungry and tried to steal a cow.  I had to step in before the women who owned it did them in.  It was all in good fun and thanks to the Recknors.  Afterward the guys were feeling sick, so everyone reported to the 6th KY Hospital where Dr. Withington and crew fixed them right up.  Thanks to the 6th KY Hospital.  The battles turned out well and we even got the bounty for having the most troops on the field.  It was interesting to see the members shaking a leg at the ball on Saturday night.  Perhaps more practice is needed?  Munfordville turned out to be a great event and everyone is looking forward to next year.  Members attending included:  Shannon Jefferies, Dewayne Hatter, Tim Brueggemann, Mike Case, Bryan Taylor, Doug Kwaizer, Kenny Coots, Matt Coots, Micah Trent, Juston Clark, Tom Gentry, Brent Beard, Justus Meek, Chloe Clark, Sara Gentry, Sherie Sykes, and Phillis Smith.

There was a drill/recruitment weekend held on Aug 1-2.  Even though this was a late entry to the schedule six members attended.  These included:  Shannon Jefferies, Dewayne Hatter, Juston Clark, Tim Brueggemann, Mike Case, and Bryan Taylor.  Special thanks to Dewayne Hatter and his family for hosting it at their home near Lawrenceburg, KY.  Also thanks to Bryan's wife, Lisa for taking pictures.  During the day on Saturday the group went site-seeing at Frankfort.  They visited the museum down town, along with the Old and New Capitol Buidlings, and the Frankfort Cemetery.  (See Photo Album 09.)  Afterward there was a drill and a cookout.

Be sure to get your registrations in for the remaining events!!!

Scottsville Report:  The heat on Saturday was down right dangerous.  We do not go without our jackets but there was no way around it this time.  The place was nice and was a Union camp back in the day.  Our unit did a great job and others took notice.  Members attending included:  Tim Brueggemann, Dewayne Hatter, Juston Clark, Trey Hales, Doug Kwaizer, Kenny Coots, Matt Coots, Justus Meek, Bryan Taylor, and Shannon Jefferies.  Keep recruiting!

Cynthiana Report:  This event was different.  The battles turned out to be pretty good even though the numbers were cut in half for Sunday.  Otherwise there was nothing going on throughout the day.  If we attend again I would like to have scenairos worked out before hand for us.  Members attending included:  Shannon Jefferies, Micah Trent, Tim Brueggemann, Dewayne Hatter, Juston Clark, Charlie Manzullo and Carla Dickerson.  We were the 13th KY US for the event.  Wearing blue is not too bad from time to time.

Sacramento Report:  The May Max Event turned out to be great.  The weather turned out to be nice with just a little over night rain on Friday.  The mud wasn't so bad this year, thanks to a lot of gravel.  (Why didn't they do this sooner?)  The event people treated us the best as always.  The Saturday night meal was incredible.  Plus all the infantry got a pound of black powder a piece.  Three new members joined up over the weekend, plus one who fell in with us and is thinking of joining.  Those attending included:  Juston Clark, John Gritton, Trey Hales, Bill Robertson, Doug Kwaizer, Dewayne Hatter, Michael Case, David Brueggemann, Phyllis Smith, Sherie Sykes, and Shannon Jefferies.  The Infantry took part in Battalion Drill and did rather well.  The battles were great even though the 6th took heavy casualties on Saturday.  However the southern army took the field on Sunday.  The 6th Kentucky became known far and wide on Sunday when we made the Owensboro newspaper.  (See Photo Album 09 page.)  Our friends from the 6th KY Hospital did a great job as well.  Their impression is top notch.  All the infantry got sick just for them on Saturday morning and there was a great sick call.  Special thanks to the civilian ladies, Phyllis and Sherie for the haversack stuffers on Sunday.  The jerky and cookies helped win the day on Sunday.  Keep recruiting and try to make the June Max Events.

We continue to grow.  Welcome to all our new members.  Juston Clark and son Justus Meek, Trey Hales, Bill Robertson, and Bryan Taylor have joined the ranks of the 6th Kentucky Infantry.  Welcome!

On May 9th, Captain Jefferies along with Pvts Clark and Meek attended the Heritage Day Festival at the Old Mulkey Meeting House State Park in Tompkinsville, KY.  Recruiting was done for the unit and Captain Jefferies gave a speech about the civil war to the crowd.  (See Photo Album 09 page.)

The first Max Event of the year was Vernon, Indiana on April 24-26.  The weather was perfect!  The unit had a good turn out as did the entire event.  The small town of Vernon was a great host.  Three new members (Dewayne Hatter, Michael Case and Matthew Coots) earned their war paint on Saturday during their first time on the field.  Other members attending included:  Shannon Jefferies, Tim Brueggemann, David Brueggemann, Doug Kwaizer, Kenny Coots, Phyllis Smith, and Sherie Sykes.  The 6th KY's colors were the only ones on the field on Saturday.  The units T-shirts finally came in and they look great.  If you haven't gotten one yet or need more, contact Tim.  Everyone had a wonderful time at the event.  (Also don't forget if you haven't paid your dues they are now past due.)

Michael Case has joined the 6th Kentucky as an Infantry Private.  Welcome to him and his wife, Carrie, and children, Amber, Hannah, and Elijah.

*Please make note.*  The October Max Event has been changed by company vote.  We will now be attending the event at Lost River Cave in Bowling Green, KY on October 16-18.

Captain Jefferies has talked to several schools through out Kentucky this spring.  He visits the classes in uniform with his gear and tells the children about the civil war.  All feedback has been good and some have already asked for him to return next year.  If you are looking for someone to speak to your class or group please email him.

The yearly company meeting was held on Feb 21.  It was held at Hall Place Bed and Breakfast in Glasgow.  Hall Place is owned by two of our new members, Gary and Karin Carroll.  Special thanks to them for hosting our meeting.  It was really neat to be in such a historic setting for our meeting.  Our colors looked really great outside next to the magnolia tree as well!  The meeting went very well.  The schedule for the upcoming season was set.  (See Schedule page.)  Dues were set for the year.  They are $10 per person or $15 per family.  Remember they are due by the first Max Event.  Also anyone who couldn't make it will need to fill out a new application as well.  Other items discussed included, recruiting and fund raising.  There was a great turn out.  After the meeting the company met at Fort Williams for drill.  The terrible weather cut the drill short after an hour.  Most of the group then had lunch at KFC.  Thanks to everyone who came and here's to a great season!

Welcome to our new members.  Doug Junkin, Sherie Sykes, and Phyllis Smith joined up at the meeting.  Welcome to the 6th KY!

The unit now has a T-shirt.  The shirts are only $8.  Special thanks to Tim Brueggemann for having them made.  Contact Tim to order yours at

This is from a card the Captain received in the mail.
   Mr. Jefferies,
Thank you for lending the colors of the 6th KY Volunteer Infantry C.S.A. to the Hardin County History Museum.  We received excellent feedback and praise on it.  We hope sometime in the near future, we may have the opportunity to have your units flag on display once again in our museum.
Take care of your colors because what you have is more then a piece of art, but an excellent piece of reconstructed history.
Continue to serve your ancestors and our ancestors proudly in all you do and remember: Without people like you, history would not exist.
   Thank you so much,
The Staff & Volunteers at the HCHM

*IMPORTANT*  The yearly meeting of our company will be February 21st at 10am central time.  It will be held at Hall Place Bed and Breakfast in Glasgow, KY.  We will be discussing company business and making our schedule for the upcoming year.  Please wear your uniform (if you have it yet) and bring your gear because following the meeting we will have a company drill at Fort Williams (a civil war earthworks fort) also in Glasgow.
Please make every effort to attend.  Please call or email me and let me know if you are coming.  Anyone who is interested in joining the unit is welcome, so pass the word.  Thank you very much.

We have two new members.  Dewayne Hatter and Tyler Bird have joined our ranks as Infantry Privates.  Welcome!

Member Tom Gentry is quite the artist.  He is going to donate a print to be raffled off for the unit.  If anyone is wanting a civil war (or otherwise) print, drawing or painting they should talk to him.  Check out some of Tom's work and contact him by going to www.myspace.com/tom_gentry_artworks

We have a new member.  Brent Beard has joined our ranks as an Infantry Private.  Welcome!

Our flag is now on display at the Hardin County History Museum in Elizabethtown, KY.  (See photo page.)  Member Micah Trent set up the display for the museum.  Included with the flag is the wooden grave marker of General Benjamin Hardin Helm.  This simple piece of wood marked his grave where he was killed in Chickamauga.  He was later moved to his family plot in Elizabethtown.  Shannon Jefferies and Tom Gentry attended the opening day for the new exhibit on December 13th.  Afterward they volunteered for the Salvation Army by bell ringing at the Glasgow Wal-Mart.  This not only helped raise money for a good cause, but also raised attention for our unit by them being in uniform.  Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!

Shannon Jefferies, Tom Gentry, and Micah Trent, along with friend Phil Hancock attended the Civil War War Show in Nashville, TN on December, 6th.

The Kentucky Museum on the campus of Western Kentucky University had a reception on Oct 24.  This was for the opening of their new Civil War exhibit.  Members attending included:  Shannon Jefferies, Micah Trent, Phil Kissinger, and Paul and Zenta Withington.  (See photo page.)  The unit flag was loaned to the museum to be in the exhibit.

On Sept 22, Captain Jefferies and Private Trent put our flag on display at the Cave City, KY Tourist and Chamber Office.  Since the 6th Kentucky mustered in at Cave City it seemed a perfect place to be displayed.  The staff there were happy to show off a part of the towns history.  There will be a recruitment day on Oct 4 at Cave City as part of the Good Old Days Festival.

The battle of Munfordville was held Sept 12-14.  The event was very nice even though Sunday got called off due to the weather.  Our Doctor talked to over 700 students on Friday for the school day.  Saturday's events were nice even though the temperatures were hot.  We were treated very well and received black powder and 3 free meals.  The over all numbers were down those who were there put on a good battle with what we had.  There was a lot of interest in our unit.

The 6th's Kentucky's own Micah Trent will be making a special limited run on the Orphan Brigade Haversacks beginning in October.  This is an extremely rare item and one that every member should look at investing in.  The Orphan Brigade Haversack will be made from 7 oz. cotton canvas and swen with natural cotton thread, measures 11.5" by 9.5".  Fasterns with a hard rubber button and is 100% hand stitched as per the original.  It will be lined with a beautiful homespun material similar to FHW.  As members of the 6th, you can get yours at a special price of $40.00.  Contact Micah by email at micah_trent@hotmail.com

A few members attended the Lost River Cave event.  The heat was unbearable this year.  The road construction didn't help either.  However the Cave people were friendly as always.

Going by a data sheet that was giving to Captain Jefferies, Mrs. Zenta Withington made our new colors.  (See photos.)  These are a copy of the 1st National colors presented to the 6th Kentucky by the ladies of Huntsville, Alabama.  Captain Jefferies did the lettering on the flag.  We want to thank Mrs. Withington for all her hard work and want her to know how much this means to everyone.  The flag was presented to the unit on Saturday morning at Brandenburg, KY.  There was a ceremony in which the ladies presented the flag to the unit.  The colors were then blessed by a local father, "Doc."  Thanks to everyone who took part in our ceremony.  We have had so many good words spoken about the flag since then.
Captain Jefferies was the Infantry commander at the Brandenburg event.  He wants to thank everyone who was there and who helped out.  Our sometimes Yankee member, Micah Trent was the Federal commander and as always it was fun to "take him out".  (See photos.)  Everyone seemed to have a great time.

The June 12th edition of The Adair Progress newspaper included an article on some of our members.  Tom Gentry and his daughter Sarah and Paul Withington and his wife Zenta were highlighted.  The article is very good with several pictures.  It talks about the part that each member has in our group and about reenacting in general.  This was a great piece for speading the word about our unit and for highlighting some of the paper's hometown reenactors.  Great job!

Captain Jefferies and Sgt Stratton attended the Jefferson Davis Birthday Celebration at Fairview, KY on June, 9th.  There were programs through out the day and lots of people were there for the President's birthday.  The pair met two of Davis' great grandsons, along with H.K. Edgerton and author William C. Davis.

Captain's Report from Sacramento 08.
By Captain Shannon Jefferies
Sacramento was held on May 16-18 this year and the weather was wonderful.  We had a great turnout for the event.  Infantry members included:  Doug Kwaizer, Tom Gentry, Tim Brueggemann, David Brueggemann, Ryan Flanigan, Seth Maggard, Zack Woolfolk, Tyler Veckner and myself.  It was good to finally meet our new guys, the Brueggemann brothers.  We joined with the 2nd and 5th for the weekend as a company with the Tennessee Valley Battalion.  After being xo on Saturday I got to be Captain of our combined company on Sunday.  We were even honored by having our units battle flag carried by the battalion.  Thanks to the commanders and men of the 2nd, 5th and the TVB.  We were made very welcome and have been invited to join the TVB.  I would like my guys imput on this.  The 6th Kentucky Infantry has already made a name for it's self and we will continue to grow with honor.  Great job men!  The 6th Kentucky Infantry Hospital members included:  Paul Withington, Phil Kissinger, and Kathy Hill.  The new hospital tent saw plenty of action.  Our medical staff's hard work really showed and everything looked great.  Civilians included: Zenta Withington and Sarah Gentry.  Sarah also won the Miss Mollie pageant.  Everyone had a great weekend.  We got to meet our new friends from Texas, David Loper and Andrew Sevier.  We even got to shoot our old reporter friend David Wolfe again.  Thanks to Sacramento for taking such good care of us.

Several members attended the event at Rising Sun, Indiana on April 25-27.  All of us had something happen that had never happened at an event before.  We got paid!  Each reenactor who attended received $50.  This was a great help with gas prices being what they are.  This turned out to be a nice little event after the storms moved out on Friday night.  Members attending included: Shannon Jefferies, Paul Withington, Chris Stratton, Eric Smith.  The townspeople were very friendly and the food at the casino was great.  Everyone had a good time.

On April 4th, nine members of our unit put on a Civil War school program at Warren Central High School.  Members included:  Shannon Jefferies, Paul Withington, Zenta Withington, Kathi Hill, Chris Stratton, Ann Collins, Doug Kwaizer, and Brandon McIntire.  Brandon attends school there and helped set up the program.  The day long program included three different "stations" set up.  Each class was divided into three groups and each group spent about 15 minutes at each "station".  Infantry, Artillery and Medical topics were covered.  Members and students alike seemed to enjoy the day.

Captain Jefferies and Private Trent marched in the Louisville St. Patrick's Day parade on March 15th.  Private Trent is active in the Sons of Union Veterans in that area.  So the good Captain became a Union Corporal for the parade.  Even with the rain it was fun day.

We would like to welcome our newest members.  Tim and David Brueggrmann, who are brothers, have joined our unit as Infantry Privates.  Welcome!

On February 15-17, Captain Jefferies attended a living history event at Fort Donelson, TN.  Programs included reenacting the surrender of the fort by General Simon B. Buckner (Jim Jean) to General U.S. Grant (Ron Bair).  Captain Jefferies got to portray General Buckner's aide, Captain John Galleher.  There was also a dinner and ball on Saturday night.  This is an event that members may want to attend next year. The Captain wants to thank Mr. Jim Jean for being his guest for the weekend.  Also thanks to everyone at the Riverside Plantation Inn.

The February Edition of The Amplifier magazine included a feature story about Captain Jefferies.  The Captian felt that this was an honor and that it helped spead the word about the our unit.  There was an online version that you can see by going to the Amplifier's website on the Links page.

Captain Jefferies was the guest speaker at the January 24th meeting of the South Central Kentucky Historical and Genealogical Society.  This was held at the South Central Kentucky Cultural Center in Glasgow, KY.  His Civil War program including explaining about his uniform and gear, showing rifle drills and talking about Kentucky's Confederate soldiers.  There was a nice crowd of forty or so people who showed up to watch.  This program helped to promote the unit, as the 6th Kentucky Infantry, Company C hailed from Glasgow and Barren County, KY.  Captain Jefferies would like to thank all of the nice people who attended with a special thanks to Sandi Gorin.

The December 23rd edition of the Barren County Progress newspaper included an article about Captain Jefferies and our unit.  There was a picture of the captain on the front page and the story went on to talk about reenacting and recruiting for our unit.  This was very fitting since the 6th Kentucky Infantry, Company C came from Glasgow and Barren County, KY.

Captain Jefferies was a bell ringer at the Glasgow Wal-Mart for the Salvation Army on December 8th.  He did this in uniform on behalf of our unit.  He raised quite a bit of money for this great cause and plans on doing it again.  This would be a good thing for all members to do in their hometowns.
